What is L-Arginine?
Arginine is a chemical “building block,” or amino acid that helps to synthesise protein.** This conditionally-essential, or non-essential amino acid is one of 11 other non-essential aminos including alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine.
L-Arginine is well known as an essential precursor of nitric oxide (NO2), a key compound that is popular with bodybuilders and athletes.** Many foods such as nuts, seeds, oats, meat, and chocolate are natural sources of low levels of arginine. A supplement helps provides extra support from this amino acid in a concentrated dose. It’s commonly found in capsule, powder, and tablet form, as a standalone ingredient or with other aminos in a sports nutrition complex.
